Winchester Watch Company

Let’s be honest, who doesn’t appreciate a good watch? Whether you are more of a Casio or  Rolex person we’ll bet the one thing you look for most in a watch is quality. Swiss watches have long been the epitome of quality design. When was the last time you heard of a British watch brand making waves? Well British startup The Winchester Watch Company is looking to do just that.

“The brand was to be built around two words, ‘elegantly simple’.

The Winchester Watch company approached Ignitec with one of the most exciting briefs we have ever had; “Design an elegantly simple, quintessentially British timepiece”. As lovers of watches we all had lots of ideas, the words “elegantly simple” determined every design decision. The design started with 2D sketches and Photoshop renderings as a fast and dynamic way to explore ideas and capture the essence of the brand. The most most important thing to consider when designing a watch, is detail. Simple features, such as a small ‘W’ on the second hand and the unique contour of the face created a unique and recognisable signature detail without detracting from the minimal aesthetic. After creating a concept which embodied the heart and soul of the WWC brand we produced multiple prototypes in incredible detail which was made possible by our cutting edge, in-house Objet 3D printer. Once the final details and tolerances were finalised Ignitec produced a pair of fully functional prototypes, hand assembled from precision machined 316 Stainless Steel.

The WWC Meridian watch will be launching soon on Kickstarter.
